  1. ELYSIA 1 - A black ink and gray pencil drawing on an 11 x 14 size vellum paper. It appears as the frontispiece in the book, "Elysia, the Coming of Cthulhu," by Brian Lumley, published by Ganley in 1989.

When you look at this picture you need to imagine the sound of romantic music in the background of your mind, because music will help you experience the emotion going on between these two lovers.

Music is one of the primary arts, it expresses man's consciousness, it stirs our emotions; it can be inspirational, soothing, wistful, melancholy, wild and insane. It can put you down on your knees and make you shout, Hallelujah! It can make you jump up and stomp your feet to the whirling bow of a mad fiddler. It can move you to make love to the love of your life.

Nobody knows why the sound of music has such an effect on us, but I'm sure glad it does. Especially when I turn my CD player on and listen to Ella Fitzgerald sing . . "You do something to me, something that simply mystifies me. . . Tell me what can it be, you have the power to hypnotize me . . . Let me live neath your spell . . . Do do, that voodoo, that you do, so well . . .

Music . . . It has given me more pleasure than all the other arts combined.
